The Lingleville Cardinals faced a close fight against Kopperl on the home field Friday, Sept. 11 as they lost 20-19.
“Our defense looked much better this week holding Kopperl to only 3 scores,” said head Lingleville football coach Jim Bays. “Weston Whitefield had a huge interception on the goal line in the 4th quarter to help put us in position to win. We just couldn’t get it in the endzone.”
“Simon Dominguez had a good night passing while Jacob Koke and Giovanni Martinez ran really well for us,” he added.
The varsity game was preceded by a 48-6 win for the Jr. High.
“The Jr high played really well on both sides of the ball,” Bays said. “It was their first game so not everything went as planned and we still need to improve in places but several kids showed up big.”
