Although Dr. Jacy Bingham officially took ownership of Dublin Veterinary Clinic on Jan. 1, the 51-year-old business is offering the same personable service with the help of Dr. Dennis Reed and dedicated staff while reflecting on the best ways to serve their neighbors.
Bingham first came to the clinic as a tech in 2012 and worked as she could while attending college. She joined the practice as a vet in 2017 after getting her degree.
“The idea of taking over was definitely there back in 2012,” she said. “It slowly became more of a reality whenever I came back as an associate. That was always the goal. I love the area. This practice feels like home to me, the people feel like family.”
Reed had been including Bingham in on decisions and ownership duties so she would be ready to take over the beginning of this year.
“There haven’t been too many surprises,” she said. “Just some challenges and rewarding moments.”
As a Seagraves native, Dr. Bingham immediately responded to Dublin’s small-town atmosphere and she and her husband, Jakob (a long-time employee of Prime) knew they wanted to make their home here. She said they’re grateful to raise their daughter here as well as the next due in October.
Bingham also enjoys running a small allencompassing practice working on animals as small as lizards and as big as camels. She and her staff also get to know the people and pets more than vets in a larger, more corporate setting would.
“I think we just have a really down-to-earth approach to medicine,” she said. “We’re able to balance practicality with being really thorough.”
In addition to the same care they’ve always offered to cats, dogs, livestock and beyond, Dublin Vet Clinic added laser therapy this year which has been a boon in treating ailments like arthritis pain, wounds (especially large scale) and snake bites. Bingham said the treatment is very effective in cleaning wounds, doesn’t require sedation or have the potential side effects of an antibiotic.
“We’re honing in on things we can make more efficient,” she offered. Other than that, it’s the same quality of care many Dubliners know from a staff they trust.
