Comanche Water Camp
Water is one of Comanche County’s most valuable natural resources. It provides potable water for families, supports crops and livestock, and sustains the agricultural industry that is the backbone of our community. Local producers depend on reliable water supplies to produce food, fuel, and fiber, making water conservation essential to the future of agriculture in Comanche County. In 2025, agricultural production income in Comanche County totaled $332,556.80, highlighting the essential role water plays in sustaining our local economy.
Teaching water conservation can start early. When youth learn where their water comes from, how it is used, and simple ways to conserve it, they develop habits that can last a lifetime. Understanding the connection between water and agriculture helps prepare the next generation to care for one of our community’s most important resources.
To encourage that understanding, Comanche County 4-H is hosting Making Waves: A Hands- On Water Discovery Day Camp on July 21–22. Youth entering 3rd-12th grade are invited to enjoy two days of water games, hands-on activities, and interactive challenges while learning about water conservation. Camp activities include building rain barrels, exploring the water cycle, and cooling off with fun water games.
