Leslie Joe Billingsley
Joey Billingsley went to be with our Lord on June 20, 2026.
Joey was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Paige Posey, and his father, Leslie Billingsley.
He is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife, Ginger Billingsley; his mother, Jean Billingsley; his daughter, Jennifer Gomez, and son-in-law, Javier Gomez; his beloved grandchildren, Tucker and Taylor Gomez; his son, Birk Billingsley; his sister, Amy; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Joey dedicated many years of service to his community as an Assistant Fire Chief of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department in Dublin, Texas. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and took great pride in serving and protecting those around him.
Anyone who knew Joey knew he was not one to sit still. Whether he was riding his horse, Snip, working on a project, or helping someone in need, he always found something productive to do. He loved spending time at his home in San Saba with Ginger, swimming in the pool, tackling the endless list of projects around the house, and simply enjoying life together.
Joey never met a stranger and was blessed with many lifelong friends. One of those special friendships was with Brad and Toyah Gholson in Pecos, who spent years trying—often unsuccessfully—to keep Joey in line. Their friendship brought Joey countless laughs and memories.
A favorite part of Joey’s daily routine was his morning trip to the feed store, where he would enjoy coffee, visit with friends, and solve the world’s problems. Those mornings, filled with stories, laughter, and friendship, meant a great deal to him.
Above all else, Joey loved his family. He was deeply devoted to Ginger and endlessly proud of his grandchildren. Whether it was football games, cheer competitions, or everyday life, he always wanted to know what Tucker and Taylor were up to. He was known for jokingly saying that if anyone dropped Taylor during cheer, he would be headed up there to have a “come to Jesus” meeting with them. His protective nature, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Joey’s strong work ethic, servant’s heart, quick wit, and deep love for family and friends leave behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely will remain with those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Graveside service was held Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the China Creek Cemetery in San Saba, Texas.
Arrangements are entrusted to Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba.
