The 12-4 Lingleville Lady Cardinals volleyball team are currently ranked third in state after racking up more Ws last week.

The varsity took a 3-1 win against Oglesby Tuesday, Sept. 2. Head volleyball coach Brandon Haught admitted Oglesby got an early start, claiming set 1 handily.

“We needed the set to be over just so we could start fresh in set 2,” Haught said. Once we refocused though, there wasn’t much that was stopping these girls. They are determined to get far this year and will do whatever it takes!”

Haught said he is proud of his team for the fight they put in for their record but said the ranking brings competition to the court.

“Every team wants to try and beat us and it is our job to not let that happen,” he added. “The target on our back just gets bigger every week.”

The JV also won against Oglesby 2-1.

The Jr. High teams also had a stellar week, contributing to a 6-1 record for the maroon team and a 3-2 record for white.

“We have battled and despite being a young JH team we are improving quickly!,” he said.

On Sept. 4, both teams claimed 2-0 wins over Stephenville.

On Sept. 6 Lingleville hosted a Jr. High Tournament with maroon claiming the championship after a 2-0 win vs Gustine, a 2-0 Win vs Iredell, a 2-0 win vs Three Way and a 2-1 win vs Iredell.

The white team claimed third following a 2-1 win vs Gustine and a 0-2 Loss vs Iredell.

On Sept. 8, both teams fell in two sets to Zephyr.

Haught reported players of the week were Payton Pack for LJH and Marti Luttrell for LHS.
