With summer right around the corner, the Dublin Public Library has been hard at work planning its annual Summer Reading Club and adventures will abound with year’s activities.

“Adventure Begins at Your Library” is this year’s theme and will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18 with a ribbon cutting and open house to showcase the newly renovated interior, funded by Tocker Foundation, the city of Dublin and STAR Council.

In partnership with STAR Council, the library will have a ribbon cutting, games, prizes and community organizations to promote resources and summer activities.

Erath County Agrilife Extension Agents will be here to answer questions about gardening and healthy food resources and Army Corps of Engineers from Proctor Lake will be here highlighting water safety.

Reading logs can be picked up at the library starting May 18 and can be returned July 2 through July 20, with the final day to return logs being July 20.

All ages are eligible to read and get prizes, including adults. For each chapter book or 10 picture books, participants will receive a ticket to enter drawings on a variety of prizes including a Nintendo Switch or Airpods.

Throughout the summer, the library will be offering Make or Take craft projects each summer and tons of programs are already set.

At 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, a Fire Prevention program with Smokey Bear and the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department will be offered.

At 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, a Water Safety program will be offered, along with a visit from Bobber, the Water Safety dog.

In June, Star Council will offer a camp June 5-6.

Creature Teacher will once again be visiting the library with a variety of animals at 4 p.m. June 6.

Annie’s Therapeutic Companions will have a dog safety presentation on June 13 at 1 p.m. along with other working dogs.

An Outdoor Movie Night will be held at sunset at June 14 with an alien-themed movie to be voted on by the public.

There will be an Out of this World Stem activity at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15.

On June 20, Elizabeth Kahura will bring tales of African folklore back to the library.

On June 21, an adult presentation from the Texas Folklore Society will be presented.

On June 27 at 2 p.m. Dinosaur Valley Park Rangers will visit Dublin once again, so kids can dig in to find fossils.

At the end of the Summer Reading Program, the library is offering a Back-to-School Fair which will be held on Saturday, July 27.

The library is asking for the community’s help with donations of either money or supplies including deodorant, children’s soap, bottled water, toiletry items, new makeup bags and children’s new underwear and socks.

Donations can be dropped off at the Dublin Public Library throughout the summer.

Adults are welcome to join book clubs throughout the summer and to get tickets for the Summer Reading Club drawing. The Library is located at 206 W. Blackjack. Is is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
