Four different fatality accidents occurred over the past week in Erath County and Stephenville.
A fatality occurred Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Stephenville around 7:30 a.m. involving three vehicles.
According to information released by Stephenville Police Department, Brooke Ann Stone, 47, of Stephenville was driving a Honda Civic attempting to turn left from Isla Street onto Lingleville Highway when she was struck by a 1992 Dodge pickup driving westbound. Jace Moore, 18, was driving the Dodge pickup on his way to school.
“The preliminary investigation is that Ms. Stone failed to yield the right-ofway,” SPD Captain James Gresham said.
A passenger in Stone’s vehicle, Elijah Green, 51, was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital for serious injuries sustained in the crash.
Stone was pronounced deceased at the scene by JP Shawnee Bass.
A third vehicle involved in the accident, was hit by the Civic, was a Chevy Tahoe, driven by Laura Robbins, 30, of Stephenville with a 4-yearold passenger. Neither Robbins nor the passenger were injured.
Several other fatalities occurred over the preceding weekend and week.
According to information released by the Department of Public Safety, on Sunday, Oct. 23 around 9:40 p.m. on U.S. 281, 7.2 miles north of Stephenville, a head-on collision occurred between a 2018 Freightliner TT towing 2023 Stoughton Semi-trailer and a 2022 Nissan Kicks.
The freightliner driven by Shane M. Feldt, 28, of Kearney, was traveling south on Hwy. 281 when he was struck by the Nissan traveling north on Hwy. 281, in the southbound lane, striking the 18-wheeler head-on.
The Nissan was driven by Hailee S. Verret, 18, from Denton.Shewaspronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Shawnee Bass.
The driver of the 18wheeler was treated and released from the scene with undisclosed injuries.
Another fatality accident occurred in the early morning on Sunday, Oct. 23 on 281, two miles north of Stephenville.
At 6:10 a.m. a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup driven by Robert B. Askew, 17, of Comanche was traveling south on Hwy. 281 when he drifted across the northbound lanes, went into the barrow ditch and struck a tree.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge Jan Rutledge.
A third fatality accident occurred at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 on State Hwy. 108, 6.6 miles north of Stephenville.
A 2007 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Brandon A. Garcia, 21, of Sherman, was traveling north on State Hwy. 108 when it drifted off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and overturned.
Garcia was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
