A Dublin teen was transported to a hospital in a wreck which claimed another driver on Friday, Dec. 8 in Comanche County.
According to information released by the Texas Department of Transportation, Sergio Vasquez Cardona, a 30year-old man from Brownwood was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck while traveling eastbound on U.S. 67.
Kolton Ponnie Edward Smith, 19, of Dublin was driving a 2000 Ford F150 pickup truck, westbound on U.S. 67.
According to DPS, Cardona lost control and veered into the westbound lane, where the vehicle was struck on its right side by the F150.
Cardona was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Justice of the Peace Johnny Conine. Smith was transported to Texas Health Hospital, Stephenville with serious incapacitating injuries. An airlift was called but could not fly due to high winds.
Weather conditions on the report indicate that road surfaces were wet.
DPS reports that Smith is recovering from the accident. DPS Trooper Zach Lundy – Coleman investigated the wreck.
