The Dublin Woman’s Thursday Club met at the Dublin Historical Museum Jan. 12.

President Fran Jurney called the business meeting to order with Secretary Judith Lemons calling the roll, nine members present and three absent.

Judy Lunsford gave a treasurer’s report as well as the amount of donations turned in for the Goodfellows Christmas Fund. Patty Hirst gave an account of huge success of the Dec. 10 book launch at the Blackjack Office Center.

The members had turned in 27 personal hygiene bags to the First Methodist Church’s food pantry. Corresponding secretary, Leta Sage, read a thank note expressing how appreciative they were of those items. The club will begin making a new batch of those to be presented at the May meeting.

In New Business, the club accepted with regret the resignation of Ellisa Tiscareno, but gladly accepted her request to remain an associate member. A lengthy discussion of the club’s scholarship was held and will be picked up at future meetings.

The Thursday Club’s 125th anniversary is being planned for March 25 at the Little Church on Grafton with Sheryl Rasher as speaker. Everyone looks forward to this special event.

The group has also been asked to host the tea for the Miss Dublin and Jr. Miss Dublin Contests to be held at the First Methodist Church in March. More discussion at the Feb. 9 meeting.

Last item on the agenda was inviting new members to the group. Those invites will be sent by our corresponding secretary, Leta Sage. We look forward to having some new faces in our club.

Next meeting will be held Feb. 9 with the place to be announced later. Judy Lunsford will be our hostess with the program, a history of Tarleton State University. The meeting was adjourned at 5:38 p.m. by President Fran Jurney.
