Oct. 19, 1945

A bronze star was awarded to Dublin serviceman Earl H. Richey, seaman, first class. He received the bronze star because of his efforts on the USS Randolph when it was attacked by a Japanese suicide plane on March 11, 1945.

Oct. 15, 1970

The Dublin Young Homemakers were looking for servicemen in the area to send cookies to for the upcoming holiday season. People who knew servicemen in the area were asked to contact Mrs. Bill Church or any Young Homemaker member and provide the servicemen’s address so the packages would be delivered in time for Christmas.

Oct. 19, 1995

A wreck caused a power outage and water shortage after a tractor trailer lost control and struck a power pole. The driver and the two passengers were taken to the hospital for their injuries. While the cause of the wreck was unknown, one officer was told the driver fell asleep behind the wheel and witnesses claim that the driver said he was distracted. Only about five feet of water remained in the tower before power was restored.
