A crowd of supporters joined organizer Velvet Earles and volunteers at Kingdom Threads Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 30 as Texas Bank presented them with a donation and held a reception recognizing all the nonprofit does for the community.
Texas Bank presented the nonprofit with a donation check for $2,500 and had been encouraging others in the community to either make a monetary donation or get items from their Amazon wishlist if they are able. (See QR code for the wishlist link.)
Earles noted that the ministry (which offers clothes and more every Wednesday 9 a.m.-noon) is affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Dublin, and she thanked pastor Weldon Branham and church secretary Courtney Scoggins for their belief and support of her organizing the nonprofi t. She also introduced and thanked her dedicated group of volunteers: MaryLou Gauna, Presley Melton, Nichole Guerra, Cindy Standridge, Carolyn Whisenant, Norma Silva and Jesus and Esther Daniel.
Texas Bank Dublin manager Amanda Pursley read a statement recognizing the impact KT has in the community and the people it serves. “Kingdom Threads is a special part of our community,” said Pursley. “They have helped to provide for hundreds of local and surrounding families by providing free clothing, shoes, toys, and other essential items along with many prayers and many hugs. No questions are asked, none are turned away, just welcomed with open arms. We are thankful for the volunteers who give their heart, soul, time, and dedication.”
Kingdom Threads will be closed this week as they prepare for the annual winter coat giveaway Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
