Two photos celebrated two separate charities this holiday season. Santa’s Helpers of Comanche was able to distribute toys and helpful necessities to children and families including giving nearly 50 bicycles to local kids. The Salvation Army of Comanche volunteers were also seen around town ringing bells and asking for donations.

Winners of the first annual Hico Christmas Decoration Extraordinaire were announced. TDR Construction was the Business winner and the home of Tracy and Karon Moore won for the residential decorations. City Hall staff thanked all who participated in this event.

The Christmas Star was captured in a photograph by Sutton Lee on Monday evening. The Christmas Star is a rare astral phenomenon when planets Jupiter and Saturn appear close in the sky and are very bright. “This is the closest they will appear to one another since 1623 and the closest observable since 1226,” according to Dick Campbell of Clifton’s Meyer Observatory.
