Hico News Review

A main water line break cut off service to most of Hico late Wednesday night that had all city crew working into the night to fix. According to Adam Niolet, Hico city Administrator, the city delivered bottled water to Hico Nursing and Rehabilitation and Hill Country Estates and many people including Mayor Eddie Needham, City Secretary Kari’ Drueckhammer and Hico ISD employees helped distribute “boil water notices” door to door for citizens. Another leak was discovered and fixed. Monday morning the boil water notice was rescinded. Niolet said “We have great, dedicated employees and our HISD partners are always there to help when called on. Thank you all for what you do.”

Tony Yocham was arrested by Texas Rangers on sexual assault charges. The Texas Rangers were contacted to review information received by the Somervell County Sheriff’s Office regarding a possible sexual assault of a child on Sept. 8. The Texas Rangers secured an arrest warrant for Anthony Wayne Yocham, 56, of Somervell County. He was arrested and charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child and bond was set at $500,000 and he was transported to the Johnson County Jail. Mayor Jim McInnis said that Yocham is on unpaid administrative leave pending grand jury determination. McInnis voiced that his first reaction was shock upon hearing the news.

Comanche Chief

According to a press release from the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 1:15 pm on Sept. 14, a call was made to the Comanche County Sheriff’s office about a residential explosion on CR 343, east of Proctor. Several people reported the sound of an explosion around 4 am and “due to the remote location of the residence and no fire the explosion was not reported until a construction crew arriving to do work contacted the home owner. The residence was completely destroyed.”

DeLeon firefighters and police responded to two incidents on Hwy 6 at 11:30 on Wednesday. A photo in the Free Press showed the first wreck of a semi that jackknifed and veered off the road. This was followed by a minor wreck between a Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet as the two cars approached the semi truck incident. There were no serious injuries reported and the conditions were wet and rainy.
