Hico News Review

A photo featured Matt and Dean Ware holding letters from their pen pals. Residents at the Hillside Medical Lodge have been stuck inside since March because of COVID-19 and had recently asked for pen pals and with letters came presents including snacks, card games, drawings and puzzles like crosswords and Sudoku. More than 22,000 Letters have been sent to Hillside Medical Lodge from all over the world including other countries like Mexico and Italy. Hillside representatives also encourage others to call their local nursing homes and share the love during this time of quarantine.

Mayor of Gustine, Ken Huey, came home to a parade being held in his honor after battling COVID-19 and other medical conditions over the last two months. While Huey was battling his ailments, local businesses helped with expenses by hosting a money tree/fund for the Huey family and the Texaco put out a greeting card that could be signed by residents.

Chris Spencer, a DeLeon man was sentenced to 30 years after being convicted of “manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance over four grams and under 200 grams, specifically the manufacture and delivery of methamphetamine.” Spencer has several other charges pending at this time and due to those charges, District Attorney Adam Sibley was unable to give a statement.
