Downtown Dublin feels even more like home with the addition of a double storefront, Heritage 1823 offering fine clothing and accessories and Simply Serenity selling quality home decor.

The mother and daughter duo of Tonya Folse and Savannah Martin opened the businesses several months ago, housed at 115 E. Blackjack.

Though in the same building, each business has its own independent identity including websites that offer online shopping.

“We’ve always dreamed about having a business, but I knew if I wanted to open a business, I’d want to do it by myself. My mom has always wanted the home décor side so we decided it would probably be for the best to have two separate businesses,” Martin said.

However, the duo has found that by having the businesses in the same location they are able to help each other, especially with social media and online ordering.

“There has been a learning curve for both of us. They compliment each other,” Martin said.

For Heritage 1823, owned by Martin, a wide variety of clothing and accessories are available in the boutique.

“We have been getting people from Lubbock to Waco traveling – outsiders, even besides the Dublin community so it has been great,” Martin said.

The boutique is named after her daughters, utilizing ‘her’ in heritage to stand for the strong women she hopes they grow into and ‘18’ and ‘23’ for their birth years.

When stepping inside, shoppers will find a wide variety of clothing options including standard clothing sizes from small to XL, along with a few plus size options up to 4X.

One of the items Martin receives compliments on is the high quality pants which offer interesting details at an affordable price.

So far, Martin has been able to reach 10 states through online orders and is hoping to reach 20 by the end of the year.

For Simply Serenity, a delightful assortment of home décor items is available ranging from candles, to handtowels, rugs, lamps and much more. Christian themed items are also sprinkled throughout.

The business is named after the serenity prayer, “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”

“The customers have been amazing. They have been so lovely and this community is so great,” Folse said.

For Simply Serenity, some of the business’ top sellers include candles along with laundry soap.

The business is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

However, every two months there will be a sip and shop where people who can’t make regular hours can shop.

“It’s a good way to hang out with girlfriends when they’re had a busy month,” Martin said.

The next sip and shop will from from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 which includes a 15% off storewide discount (excluding sale items). Teacher give-a-ways will also be taking place.
