Mills steps up for KOA

As assistant manager of the Stephenville-Dublin KOA on FM219 towards Lingleville, 22-year-old Wesley Mills gets to play a part in making his community better and he is excited about its recent growth and what’s on the horizon.

“I’ve lived there for the better part of three years and I’ve been working there for one,” Mills said.

Mills is originally from Hallsville in East Texas and his family moved to Woodson when he was in 8th grade. After high school, he decided to go to Tarleton to get a degree in Agriculture Communications. The Dublin KOA park provided the perfect living spot while he worked on his degree. Last year, he got a job in the front office and he was bumped up to assistant manager in March.

“I got to meet quite a few more people than I would just being a resident,” MiIls said of working in the office. “I just kind of knew my neighbors and the people in my row.”

Mills was told he would have to wear several hats but has worked in general park maintenance and online marketing.

This included letting people know about new developments at the park.

One of the most recent is that the arch cabins visible from the Dublin Loop became available for rent at the end of June. “I’m proud of those cabins,” Mills said, noting that he’s observed the development for several years. “Seeing those things finally come to fruition has been great.”

KOA is now promoting the unique option for visits or staycations and looking forward to premium sites and a community center in time.

The park is also continuing its commitment to community events within the park with weekly gatherings and participation in Dublin celebrations like St. Patrick’s Day, the Hispanic Heritage Festival, the Dublin Area Reunion and the Easter Eggstravaganza where they have provided activities and bounce houses. A new events coordinator will help build up the calendar in coming months.

Mills is excited about the possibilities and his role in achieving them.

“I’m looking forward to the amazing opportunities for the park in the future,” he said.

The Stephenville Dublin KOA Journey park is located at 1205 FM 219, just inside the Dublin Loop. For more information, call 254-979-3967 or visit https://koa.com/ campgrounds/stephenville/
