A man previously arrested in Erath County was recently arrested on firearm smuggling charges out of Parker County.
Yazan Wesley Adel was arrested for the offense of Firearm Smuggling – Three or More Firearms, a Second-Degree felony.
On May 18, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Unit (SCU) with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms initiated an investigation from a tip regarding individuals from Parker County purchasing bulk firearms from an independent federal firearms license (FFL) holder.
According to information released by the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, two Parker County men worked together to purchase 11 Glock pistols from an independent FFL firearms dealer located over 100 miles away. Adel allegedly arranged for the purchase of the Glock pistols.
However, Adel had previously pled guilty to two felony and one misdemeanor drug charge in Erath County. He was sentenced to five years of probation on May 5, 2023, therefore making it a criminal offense for Adel to purchase firearms while on felony probation. To elude law-enforcement, Adel allegedly enlisted the help of a long-time friend to complete all the FFL paperwork, accompany him to meet with the FFL dealer, and to facilitate the transfer of the 11 Glocks to his possession.
On May 28, investigators executed a search warrant at Adel’s residence in Weatherford and seized nearly $5,000 in U.S currency, an MP5 rifle, two AR-15 style rifles, a .45 caliber semiauto pistol, and two 9mm pistols, miscellaneous gun parts, and fraudulent documents relating to the purchase of firearms.
Investigators have recovered 3 of the eleven Glock pistols, thus far, and are actively looking for the remaining eight 8 Glocks.
Adel was placed into the Parker County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
