The Dublin Public Library is hosting a couple of fundraisers this fall including “Tell Your Spooky Story” and “Tiny Art Showcase.”

With “Tell Your Spooky Story” businesses and individuals are invited to pick a favorite creepy classic and create an outdoor display in honor of it. The entries will be judged and winners in each category will be announced online.

The cost to be included is $50 for businesses and $25 for individuals. All entries should be submitted to avoid duplicate displays. Current works chosen include “It” by Stephen King, The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and “The Haunted House and Other Spooky Poems” edited by Vic Crume.

No materials will be provided for display. Displays may be assembled with whatever materials you desire (as long as they are non-hazardous). Make sure displays are durable and all pieces are secured in case of bad weather.

Displays must be visible from a city, county or state roadway. Displays must be located on your property (unless you have permission to use someone else’s). Displays should not limit vehicle visibility or in any way obstruct traffic. All entries should be built, photographed and submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 Photos of the displays will be posted to Facebook and winners will be announced on Halloween. The Tiny Art Showcase allows people who are feeling a “little” creative this fall to create a work of art on a 3” by 3” canvas. For a $1 donation, a kit containing a mini canvas, paint and a paintbrush will be provided (while supplies last). If not using the provided canvas, any medium or art supplies can be used, but it must still measure 3” by 3”. Participants are encouraged to use recycled materials.

Canvases need to be dry before returning to the library and needs to be family-friendly. All canvases are due back to the library by Oct. 20.

An entry form and the $1 donation must accompany each piece.
