Several Halloween events are on the horizon as spooky season has officially commenced.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s annual Safe Trick-or-Treat will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31 starting at 5 p.m. in the downtown area. Businesses will be handing out all kinds of treats.

This year, Dublin is seeing a bit more encouragement in local trick-or-treating, as an official Trick or Treat Map is being developed by resident Amanda Christman and supported by Revitalize Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

As of press time, more than 30 homes have asked to be included on the map which will be digitally distributed on Revitalize Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page. Businesses who are handing out candy can also register on the map. There is no charge to be included. A physical map will be printed for those who don’t have Facebook access and will be available outside Grafton Market on the Crime Scene board.

“I saw a need from the community where families were wanting to know where to go trick or treating and if Dublin still did house to house trick or treating,” Christman said.

The map is being developed in Google Maps so eager trick-or-treaters can simply follow along with the dots to collect candy.

There is also color coding with green dots being ones where a door bell should be rang and orange ones where candy will be collected from someone sitting outside the home, like on the porch.

Anyone wanting to be included on the map can simply text or call Christman at 267-400-9563.

Trick-or-treating is expected to commence at 5 p.m.

The Stephenville Area Elks Lodge is also hosting its annual Trunk-or-Treat on Elm Street (no nightmares included) on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Dublin.

There is a $10 entry fee for those wishing to decorate their trunks which goes to support special needs kids in the area. The event is free for those wanting to gather goodies from the decorated trunks. There will be a best trunk contest.

There will also be hamburgers and hotdogs for sale to aid the Elks Lodge and provide a bit of balance for those on a sugar high from all the candy.

Those wanting to participate can call or text 254-396-3114 or email elkssweetheart2834@gmail. com.

The Dublin Citizen in conjunction with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual virtual costume contest from Oct. 27 through Oct. 31.

The contest is open to all ages including adults and groups.

To enter, submit a photo of your spooktacular costumes to the Citizen at composing@ dublincitizen. Please include an age and first name.

The costume contest will be judged after Halloween is over and results will be published in the Nov. 9 edition of The Citizen.

Dublin Dollars will be awarded for first place and second and third place will also be awarded prizes.
