A delicious fundraiser is on tap Sunday, June 25 in Eastland for Robert “Dion” Fink of Cisco.
Fink is preparing to undergo a life-changing kidney transplant and is raising funds to assist with the procedure.
In 2006, Dion, a Cisco resident, was unexpectedly diagnosed with the rare auto-immune disease granulomatosis with polyangiitis. In 2019, a disease flare-up left him with profound hearing loss in both ears and severe damage to his kidneys.
When Dion realized the massive potential cost of a kidney transplant, which can easily exceed $440,000 before insurance, he turned to the trusted nonprofit Help Hope Live to fundraise.
Through generous donations, he has already raised $12,500 of the $50,000 needed.
The fundraiser will include a plate lunch fundraiser plus an open mic night at The Lumber Yard Event Center in Eastland.
From 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (while supplies last), enjoy smoked pork loin or chicken with sides, a drink, and dessert for a suggested $15 donation.
The event center is located at 313 West Main Street in Eastland.
Unlike a GoFundMe campaign, donations to Help Hope Live in Dion’s honor are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be managed by the nonprofit to cover verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient. Funds raised will not jeopardize his eligibility for state-based benefits.
Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in secure, tax- deductible fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $172 million to pay patient expenses.
