Frederick to play in All-State Band
Ella Frederick, of the The Sound of Dublin Band, earned a spot on the Texas All-State Music Ensemble, the highest honor a Texas music student can earn.
She competed Saturday at Argyle High School to earn the spot. Only 1,780 students make one of the 15 All-State ensembles, according to a new release from DHS Band Director Ronny Luedke, out of 72,900 students who initially enter the All-State competition.
“Only the top 2.4 percent of musicians who initially audition become All-State musicians,” the release reported.
Frederick will perform with the All-State band Feb. 16 in San Antonio at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at the conclusion of three days of rehearsals at the 2019 Texas Music Educators Assocition Clinic and Convention, running Feb. 13 through 16. This is Frederick’s first time to perform as a member, Leudke said.
She is the daughter of Suzann Thompson and Charles Frederick.
She is a student of Danny Norton and plays under Luedke’s direction at Dublin High School.
