Filing open for May elections
Filing is officially open for the May 2, 2020 elections with several positions open for the Dublin City Council and Dublin ISD School Board.
On the city side, candidates can file for City Mayor (currently held by David Leatherwood) and Place 2 and 4 on the Council (held by Cliff Jackson and Ben Pate respectively).
Mayor Leatherwood has filed for re-election, and Eric Bullard has filed in the Place 4 race. Jackson has announced his intention to run again.
In the School Board elections, the seats of of Bill Rodriguez and Kent Crouch are up for re-election with Rodriguez already filing for re-election.
The deadline to file in May 2 elections is Feb. 14 by 5 p.m.
The last day for voters to register will be April 2, with early voting slated from April 20 to April 28.
The Dublin elections will also include a special election, in which Dublin residents will determine whether to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages including mixed drinks within the city limits.
The special election item was approved in this month’s City Council meeting after petition organizers gather enough qualified signatures to get the item on the ballot.
