Dear Editor, The Dublin Rotary Club wants to say thank you to the many people whose yards or sidewalks we borrowed last week when we put up American flags on Highways 377 and 6 to show support for our nation in a time of crisis.
We put the flags on the main streets where they had the most daytime and nighttime visibility because we were prepared to leave them for several days.
Later when President Bush and Gov. Perry called for official days of prayers, we voted to put out more flags, this time adding our subscribers. We left the flags out through the state’s designated day of prayer on Sunday.
Rotary owns about 300 flags, and we are pleased to display them, at the club’s discretion, when we have the opportunity to boost patriotism or welcome visitors.
Our assurance to subscribers to our flag program is that we will put out flags at your home or business siz times a year, if weather permits, and pick them up at the end of the day.

Dear Editor, Thursday night was a special night in Dublin, Texas as so many of our citizens took time to show their respect and condolences for the vast loss of life.
We wanted to stand together as Americans. This was a time we could prioritize what really is important. We had to realize that in an instant the most important people in our lives could be snatched from us.
Many people have pulled together in true American spirit as reflected by the $700 donated in this one evening on The Corner Lot for the families of the firefighters who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
Let us not lose our feelings of patriotism and love of America and fellow Americans. We are all family and are one, because we are Americans.

The Corner Lot Gang To everyone in Dublin, What a wonderful display of patriotism! My husband and I drove through your town Saturday on our way to my grandparent’s house. When we entered the end of town and saw all the flags lining both sides of the road as far as we could see, we were deeply touched. What a great job! Keep up the good work. May God bless America.
