Shelley Luther and Drew Springer will be facing each other in a run-off election after the Sept. 29 special election for the vacated seat of Pat Fallon as State Senator District 30.
District-wide, Springer got 21,903 votes (31.8%) and Springer got 21,814 (31.7%) while Luther received 1,120 votes in Erath and Springer got 951 Erath votes.
Since neither candidate received a clear majority (more than 50%), a run-off election is required to decide the victor.
Jacob Minter, the sole democratic candidate in the race, was third with 21.1% while the rest of the candidates received less than 10% each.
Erath voters cast 407 ballots for Minter, 131 for Craig Carter, 74 for Chris Watts and 68 for Andy Hopper.
A total of 2,765 ballots were cast (11.85% of the county’s registered voters) and 13 ballots were left blank.
