Though the community is awash in green for St. Patrick’s Day, Easter is right around the corner, which means Dublin’s Eggstravaganza committee is in full swing.

Title sponsors of the event include Dublin Dairy Queen, Stephenville Area Elk’s Lodge and the Dublin Citizen.

The third annual Eggstravanganza event is set for 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Dublin’s City Park on Highland Avenue. There will be four hunt age groups this year: birth to 3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12. All hunts will begin at 9:30 a.m.

This year, participants can also enjoy cotton candy, hotdogs provided by Calvary Fellowship Church, facepainting and 15,000 eggs with prize eggs for Easter baskets in each age division.

There will also be photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and bounce houses for the kids. There will be a touch-a-vehicle display with fire and police vehicles. All activities and food are free for the community.

The event, now in its third year, was the brainchild of Dublin DQ Manager Shanna Phelps who wanted a local Easter egg event for citizens so they would not have to travel elsewhere.

Each year a committee of volunteers stuffs, matches and coordinates the egg donations using financial contributions and egg donations, increasing the amount of eggs each year.

Additional sponsors for theeventincludeStephenville Evening Lions Club, Legacy Estates, Stone’s Auto, Bar Diamond LLC, Art-Z Face Painting, First National Bank, Stephenville Nursing, Granny Clark’s, Calvary Fellowship, Dublin Insurance, Harrell Fu-neral Home, Valley Grove Baptist Church, Terry Cline, Dublin Vet Clinic, Dublin VFD, Dublin Police Department, Dublin Lions Club, Higginbothams, Brookshire Brothers, Lilly G Productions, Veterinarian’s Outlet, Sonic and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

A special thanks goes to egg stuffers Mary Wood, Girl Scout Troop 4168 and Makayla and Rebecca Anglin.

For those wanting to contribute to the egg hunt, filled eggs, empty eggs and candy are still being accepted, either at the Dairy Queen or at the newspaper office.
