Despite bruises and broken bones, Gage Nail, his wife Brittany and their children, Tylor and Dean Nail, made their way to Double N Cowboy Church on Sunday, Dec. 17 to offer prayers of thanks to God that a horrible motorcycle wreck wasn’t worse.

The wreck involving Gage, who is Sergeant at Arms of the Servant Souls motorcycle group, occurred Thursday, Dec. 14 on Farmto- Market 847 only a short distance from where the family lives.

According to information shared by his wife, Gage had fixed a faulty clutch on a fellow rider’s 2007 Harley Davidson XL883 and was taking the bike for one last ride to make sure it was operating correctly.

“The bike went into what is known as a death wobble,” Brittany said. According to DPS the bike rolled over white entering the north side of the bar ditch area. Unbeknownst to them, the bike had a recall for problems with the clutch.

Mike Newton from Higginbotham’s was one of the first individuals on scene and told Gage to keep still and not to sit up until emergency services could arrive. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Due to the severity of injuries, Gage was airlifted to Texas Health Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. Gage was able to return home Saturday evening, though an additional surgery for a skin graft may be in his future.

He suffered a broken nose, a fracture in his left ankle, his left pinky toe is broken and his left side suffered a series of injuries many requiring multiple stitches.

His left knee is the worse part and was taken down to the bone.

“God was watching over him that day, it could have been so much worse,” Brittany said.

The Nails own a construction and remodel business and Gage will be out of work for a couple of months recovering from his injuries.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to aid the family and Wicked Clover Tattoos is also taking donations on the family’s behalf for those who may not wish to use the GoFund Me account.
