Dublin One Act Play will be performing “A Monster Calls” in Bi-District competition in Graham on Saturday, March 10 after strong finishes in Zone and District competition.
The Dublin cast and crew claimed first place at Zone Feb. 28 with Early coming in second and Eastland third.
In addition to the overall win, Dublin got the following individual awards: Best Lighting - Haiden Holloway Best Technical Crew Jenna Ary, Garytt Kielman and Haiden Holloway Best Performer - Ryan DiCiccio All Star Cast - Patience Cutler, Elizabeth Reed and Alex Ponce De Leon Honorable Mention All Star Cast - Jeffrey Cervantes The Dublin group performed well again on Saturday, March 3 and earned the right to advance to Bi-District.
They also got the following individual awards: Honorable Mention All Star Cast- Ryan DiCiccio All Star Cast - Elizabeth Reed and Jeffrey Cervantes Best Lighting Technician- Haiden Holloway Cast members for this year’s production include: Ryan DiCiccio, Jeffrey Cervantes, Elizabeth Reed, Patience Cutler, Trinity Haby, Alex Ponce De Leon, Morgan Keith, Ruby Ortega, Derek Ivey, Alexis Stewart and Victor Ruiz.
The play is based off a book by Patrick Ness, set in present day England, featuring a boy who struggles to cope with the consequences of his mother’s illness with cancer. He is repeatedly visited in the middle of the night by a monster who tells stories.
