DG Market breaks ground

Ground has now been broken on a new 9,800 square foot Dollar General Market, which will be located on North Patrick Street (across from Veterinarian’s Outlet), and will be Erath County’s first DG Market location.

The store is slated to open in late Spring 2024, depending on construction progress and weather, according to information provided by corporate Dollar General.

“We are excited to add Dollar General Market to the retail options available to our citizens. The path to this becoming a reality was challenging at times but the developer, 7B Construction, was a pleasure to work with,” Dublin City Manager Bobby Mendez said.

Unlike a regular Dollar General store, a DG Market format offers expanded produce, refrigerated and frozen food offerings, dairy products and more, in addition to an assortment of fresh meats, alongside the general merchandise customers are use to acquiring from Dollar General stores.

The company’s fresh produce offerings include an assortment of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, apples, strawberries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lemons, limes, salad mixes and more.

“We look forward to continue serving the Erath County community through our current stores and future Dublin DG Market!,” a spokeperson from the company said.

The store plans to employ approximately 10-15 employees, depending on the individual needs of the store. Anyone interested in joining the team may apply foravailablepositionsonline at www.dollargeneral.com/ careers.

The regular Dollar General location at 400 South Patrick will also remain open for business.

“Our customers are at the center of all that we do, and meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top prioritywhenchoosingstore locations. In selecting store sites, we take a number of factors into consideration, carefully evaluating each potential new store location to ensure we can continue to meet our customers’ price, value and selection needs,” a spokeperson from the company said.
