All hands were on deck this weekend for a train derailment on County Road 151 near Bluff Dale.
According to information released by Erath County Emergency Coordinator Cyndi Smith, a train owned by Fort Worth Western Railroad derailed Saturday, Oct. 22 around 3 a.m.
The train was traveling southbound headed to Dublin with meal. Three engines and six to seven rail cars derailed and were damaged.
The other 30-40 rail cars remained upright.
There were no injuries in the derailment, though there was property damage to land owners’ fencing.
Meal and diesel were the only items that spilled from the derailment.
The incident has been reported to area, state and federal authorities, Smith said at the Monday, Oct. 24 Commissioner’s Court meeting.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) did not respond by presstime. The cause of the derailment is not currently known.
