CTFS brunch to address trafficking

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are nearly gone for the 2023 Better Beginning Brunch benefitting Cross Timbers Family Services.

The mission of Cross Timbers Family Services is to enhance safety and justice by preventing domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes in the community through empowerment, advocacy, awareness, and action for social change.

This year’s event will serve up mimosas and brunch from Comanche’s Harvest Restaurant as a panel of experts discuss human trafficking and how it pertains to Erath County. There will also be a silent auction with many in-demand items being sold to benefit CTFS outreach.

“Texas is second in the nation for human trafficking,” said CTFS Executive Director Laura Gambino. “We want people to see how that is hitting Erath. We hope that people come away understanding that CTFS works with all victims of violent crimes.”

The panel includes ■ Cindy McCarthy, interim president of Texas Health Resources Harris Methodist Hospital

■ Sherri Thompson, Tarleton Police Detective who previously worked with Fort Worth Police

■ Local law enforcement reporting trafficking concerns spotted in the CTFS service area (Erath and surrounding counties) For more information on purchasing tickets or a table at the event, visit crosstimbershelps.org or call (254) 965-5516.
