Erath County officials reported 22 new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Monday night (Oct. 5). Nine of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville, three were residents of Dublin and 10 were rural residents of the county.

Total COVID-19 cases increased by 68 (749 to 817) in the week from the Sept. 28 update to Monday night’s report, while active cases increased by 18 standing at 88 on Sept. 28 and 106 a week later.

Recovered cases were reported at 706 on Monday, up from 668 from the week before.

The largest increase in confirmed cases happened in the 13-19 year-old group (125 to 138), the 20-29 year-old group (214 to 232) and 40-64 year-old group (193 to 209).

Reported deaths in patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 since March have remained at five. Hospitalizations since March remain at 23.

County officials remind residents that according to the Texas Department of State Health Services, there are things everyone can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

■ Wear a face covering in public

■ Stay six feet apart

■ Wash or sanitize hands often

■ If sick, get tested and stay at home
