The Dublin City Council met briefly in a special meeting Monday, March 4 to terminate the city’s contract with McCreary, Veselka, Bragg and Allen law firm in collecting delinquent tax collection.

“We’re having this meeting because we’re having some difficulty with MVBA letting go of us,” said Dublin City Manager Bobby Mendez.

The Council previously accepted a contract for the same services from Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott due to its ability to assist more actively with code enforcement issues through Texas Communities Group. The new firm was recommended and invited by Revitalize Dublin to speak to the Council last year due to these services.

Council member Orion Gallagher asked if the city will have further issues after accepting the termination.

Mendez reported the issue stemmed from the contract stating termination needed to be announced 30 days prior to Jan. 1. He added that Perdue Brandon has pledged to take care of any matters with MVBA in the transition.

The vote was carried unanimously by council members present. Darren Turley and Keegan McInroe were absent.
