The City Council approved a sewer systems improvement project bid at Monday night’s council meeting. The project was awarded to B&L Construction and was awarded with deductible alternatives at $424,234.20.

Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray spoke on several topics that were both approved by the City Council.

The first was the appointment of a reserve officer for the Dublin Police Dept. Lane Coates, son of Erath County Sheriff Matt Coates, wanted the sponsorship of the Dublin Police Dept. to be accepted into the police academy and once graduated would be a reserve officer for Dublin PD until a job became available.

Chief Ray also wanted the council to consider whether or not Colby Giles could keep his police ballistics vest. Ray explained that the vests are fitted especially for the specific officer and it would be very unlikely that the next officer hired would not be Giles exact measurements. It was decided that in exchange for the vest, Giles would forfeit 29 paid leave hours.

The council approved both of Chief Ray’s items.

The Council also approved the sale of the EMS Sub Building located at 1040 N Patrick. Council members were advised that the building couldn’t be used in the way they wanted and that it would be better to sell the building.

The council also approved the appointment of The Dublin Citizen Newspaper as the official newspaper of Dublin.

The council approved the appointment of two members to the Board of Adjustments to replace Kristi Rodriguez and Jean Malone. Darrell Curry suggested Marvin Curry and Mitchell Greenway.

Several items were discussed and tabled pending answers to questions posed by the council. City Manager Bobby Mendez discussed the water increase. Dr. David Stanphill discussed the contract between the City and the hangar owner and pilots agreeing that amendments needed to be made before the contracts approval.

Bobby Mendez also updated the council on the sale of the city property behind Thompson’s Custom Meats. Mendez discussed the Dublin Volunteer Fire Dept and whether or not it should become part of the city or become its own entity and contract out to the city.

Council members declared no action during the executive session.
