Chamber director named in meeting
Ellisa Tiscareno was introduced as the incoming Dublin Chamber of Commerce Director June 11 during the monthly board meeting.
Outgoing director Luanne Schexnider showed her support of the pick, saying “She has a sixth sense of what needs to be done with the community, She has also got a lot of agriculture in her background.”
Ellisa has always had those ties even though she was born in Houston and lived there until starting Jr. High in Cypress.
She is the daughter and granddaughter of migrant workers and fondly remembers spending her summers in south Texas, helping her grandparents work at their farm.
It wasn’t until she went to Colorado for her dairy science degree that she worked with dairy farms and found out how much she enjoyed them though.
After working with dairies and outreach for Zoetis, she was directed to Tarleton due to her interest in Dairy Nutrition. She obtained her Master’s Degree at Tarleton and headed Tarleton’s Southwest Dairy Center following the exit of her first advisor.
Ellisa said one of her goals for the Chamber is to get it a permanent home where people can come and get information about the town.
“The Dairy Center was supposed to be a place where people can come and get a taste of dairy,” she said. “I want to do the same for Dublin.”
She also stated a desire to get all areas of the Dublin community working together and upon unveiling the 2020 plaque featuring a cow with a facemask, the directors showed recognition the local ag industry.
Tiscareno was integral in the planning of June 13 events and she and Schexnider will tag-team duties as she is learning the ropes.
Ellisa is the wife of Misael Tiscareno and works as an insurance advisor.
