Budget, improvement grants in works for EDC

The Dublin EDC recently approved its budget and a host of grants at its recent meeting.

Current assets for the EDC, as of June 30 are $331,405.27 and their projected revenue – sales tax is $207,443.99 for a total of $538,849.26 for assets and projected revenues.

Within the budget, administrative expenses total $36,300, total administration budget is $90,681.60.

The EDC program budget includes an affordable housing category for $33,000, direct business incentives for $195,000 and tourism development for $135,744, for a total of $363,744.

In the affordable housing portion of the budget, there is $4,000 dedicated to housing development and infrastructure, $15,000 in new housing starts and $14,000 for abandoned/substandard housing removal.

In direct business incentives, there is $70,000 for business grants, $50,000 for business district improvement grants, $25,000 for abandoned/ substandard building program and $50,000 from reserves.

In tourism development, thereis$20,000forcommunity beautification/ cleanup, $20,000 for community improvement grants, $75,000 for downtown improvements and $20,744 for marketing/promotion.

With everything included, the total admin and program budgets are $454,425.60, special project reserves are $84,423.66 and the total budget is $538,849.26 for a balanced budget.

The board also approved several grant at its Aug. 29 board meeting including a Commercial Building Improvement Grant for Robert Blair in the amount of $5,648.74. This building is located next to City Hall.

A Commercial Building Improvement Grant was approved for $7,500 for Mack Stewart for a storage facility on Sheehan Street.

A Commercial Building Improvement Grant was approved for Andermar Properties for Grafton Center in the amount of $7,350 for AC work.

They also approved a Community Improvement Grant Expansion Event for the Dublin Chamber of Commerce for its Hispanic Heritage Event in the amount of $1,500. They are purchasing Dublin Bottling Works drinks with custom labels to give away at the Hispanic Heritage celebration Sept. 29-30.
