Five Dublin High School Sound of Dublin band members are advancing to state following the Regional Solo and Ensemble contest Saturday, Feb. 25 in Stephenville.
It was “a fantastic day for the Sound of Dublin band” according to DISD Band Director Ronny Luedke.
Ruby Ortega is advancing following a Division 1 “Superior” (the highest rating) performance in her French Horn solo while the Brass Quintet of David Nava, Morgan Keith, Ruby Ortega, Grace Luedke and David Hernandez qualified for the Division 1 performance.
This is the second consecutive year that this group qualified for state competition.(Theyadvanced last year as a brass sextet with Nate Caldera.). State competition details are not yet finalized but it will be in Austin at the end of May.
DISD bands claimed several more Superior ratings including the clarinet trio of Samantha Martinez, Jayden Rojas and Keighly Lewis.
Dublin soloists earning a Division 1 rating were: Ruby Ortega, Yovanny Ortiz, Emma Mason, Alma Holguin Martinez, Rowdy Mizer, Keighly Lewis and Hailie Whitworth.
David Nava earned a Division 2 rating in his solo.
Ronny Luedke congratulated all of his students for their accomplishments and extended his gratitude to Leta Sage for accompanying students in their performances.
