Authors from far and wide came to participate in the Dublin Public Library’s 2nd annual Local Author Showcase on Saturday, June 17 in conjunction with the Dublin Market Days in Wright Park.
Authors and book enthusiasts were able to visit with each other as shoppers found some new reading material from a variety of scribes.
Authors Laura Conner Kestner, Sheryl Reed Rascher, James Plyant, Cliff Sims, Elaine Fields Smith, Mac McKinnon and Jamie R. Cole participated in this year’s event.
Kestner, author of the “Remember Texas,” “A Texas Promise” and “A Texas Moon”, greeted citizens as they checked out her inspirational fiction.
Both Rascher and Plyant visited with history enthusiasts as they discussed their books “Images of America Erath County” and “Texas Gothic: Fame, Crime & Crazy Water,” respectively.
Cole, along with her service dog Shay, were popular as people gravitated toward the pup while checking out her “Jake the Service Dog” paperback.
In the book, Shay is an eager little pup who is so excited to become a service dog to help veterans, but she has a lot to learn to be effective in her new role. Jake, a retired service dog from the Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas, is here to help. He walks Shay through the necessary steps to learn her new job.
Sims was able to discuss his book “Surviving Spiritual Stress: Biblical solutions for overcoming life’s stress factors” with visitors.
