A slew of patriotic events to celebrate America’s 250th birthday is on tap this week in Stephenville and the surrounding areas.
Several firework shows are set for July 3.
The Cloud’s firework show in Comanche County is set for about 9:20 p.m. Friday, July 3 at 11551 Hwy. 16 between CCMC hospital and Comanche.
The public is invited for the free event and instructed to park along the highway in the bar ditch to enjoy the show. The show is on private property so please do not park on the coastal hay field.
No outside fireworks, sparklers or explosives are permitted.
A firework show benefitting the American Bravery Foundation is also set for Friday, July 3.
This year funds raised will go toward Therapeutic Recreation Group, the Monk Strong Memorial (benefitting the Merriman family) and American Valor Foundation.
All donations go to charity and every dollars counts (whether it is $1, or $1,000), the organization said on its social media page.
None of the donated funds are taken out to put on the event. Though donations are appreciated to aid all of the veteran nonprofits, the event is free to the public.
Music starts at 8 p.m. followed by fireworks at dark.
To get to the event, turn on CR 417 from FM 8 and go 3.3 miles to CR 416. From FM 2303 turn on CR 417 and go 1.2 miles to CR 416. Parking is 0.2 miles down CR 416 on the left.

On Saturday, July 4 Stars Over Stephenville is set to offer fun for the nation’s birthday celebration.
Stephenville Main Street will be offering its monthly Farmers & Artisan Market from 9 a.m. to noon downtown. There will also be live music by Landry Allen from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
At 9 a.m. the annual July 4th parade kicks off headed out from the city park toward downtown.
Feeling hungry after all that excitement? Head down to the City Park for some food vendors starting at 11 a.m.
At 1 p.m. their will be inflatables and outdoor activities, also at the park.
At 1 p.m. there will be live music on the acoustic stage and music will start at 6 p.m. at the Main Stage.
A firework show will cap off the event at 9:30 p.m.
“Bring your lawn chairs, friends, and family and celebrate Independence Day with us in Stephenville!” organizers said.
