Blood drive set Wednesday in Comanche
Help save a life. Be a blood donor. Come to the next blood drive scheduled at Comanche County Medical Center in Comanche, from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.11. The Hendrick blood mobile will be parked in the front parking lot near Doctors Medical Center clinic all afternoon. No appointment is necessary.

Educational fishing event set Saturday
The Stephenville Area Elks Lodge is sponsoring a fun and educational fish day for ages 9-13 at Copperas Cove at Proctor Lake (2180 FM 2861). The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and lunch is provided.

There will be fishing available for youth and a water safety program by the Army Corps of Engineers will be held at 9 a.m.

Coffee with the Chief

There will be coffee with the Dublin Police Chief Thursday, Oct. 5 at Grafton Market.

Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray will be on hand for photo opportunities for kids, along with goodie bags.

Two time slots are available: 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend, organizers said.

St. Jude Children's Hospital fundraiser Saturday
Red Barrel Bar & Grill will be hosting a fundraiser benefitting St. Jude Children’s Hospital from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. Brisket sandwiches will be available for $10. There will be a cornhole competition with brackets filled at 10 a.m. Competition starts at 11 a.m. $20 fee with a cash prize.There is also horseshoes, a rifle auction, karaoke competition and live music.

Nature Fest set for Saturday
Experience a day of fun and learning for all ages on Oct. 7 at 10 a.m.: Interactive booths, games, activities, and crafts! Learn about skins & skulls, bluebirds, fishing, butterflies, rain, telescopes and so much more! Discover native Texas plants and animals with experts! Learn about the fascinating features of our unique ecoregion!

The event is at Bosque River Trail Nature Center in Stephenville (735 East Long Street) and sponsored by Prairie Oaks Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist.
