Volunteers are being called in for one last push in helping the family at 432 N. Park get their house finished to keep warm in winter weather. The workday is set for Saturday, Jan. 20 at 8 a.m.

Volunteers gathered for two work days in November, initially looking to install new siding, insulation and underpinning so the large family could get ready for winter months. A lot of progress was made in the workdays but the holiday schedule co-opted work.

“We’d really like to finish it,” said project coordinator Tori Estrada. “Some of the materials are becoming unusable, and things are coming undone with the high winds.”

Organizers need as many volunteers as they can get, particularly those with construction experience. They also ask that volunteers bring tools like saws, hammers, ladders, box cutters, pry bars, gloves, tin snips, screw guns and impacts.
