Unofficial results end in two county runoffs

After unofficial results for the March 5 joint primary election, there will be two runoff elections May 28.

For the office of Tax Assessor-Collector candidate Valerie Stephen will face off against candidate Niki McInroe-Cogburn. 

Totals for the race are: 
Valerie Stephen – 1,956 (36.11%)
Niki McInroe-Cogburn - 1,426 (26.32%)
Mike Jones – 1,242 (22.93%)
Tina Holzschuh – 793 (14.64%)

Anytime at least one candidate does not receive 50% of the vote, plus one, a runoff must occur between the two highest vote earners.

On the Democratic ballot, candidate Marycruz Serrano will move ahead to the November election. She received 341 votes (100%).

For the office of Precinct 3 County Commissioner, candidate Sherman L. Edwards will face off against candidate Ben Clements. 

Totals for the race are:
Sherman Edwards – 799 (47.56%)
Ben Clements – 458 (27.26%)
Justin Slawson – 423 (25.18%)

For U.S. Representative Texas District 25, longtime incumbent Roger Williams kept his seat. 

Total votes are: 
Roger Williams - 66,409  (77.64%)
Matthew Lucci -11,910   (13.92%)
Vince Crabb - 7,213 (8.43%)

Statewide, Presidential nominee Donald Trump received the most votes with 1,742,230 votes or 77.25 on the Republican Primary ballot. Trump claimed all states in Super Tuesday voting, except for Vermont, where Republican nominee Nikki Haley won.

Statewide, President Joe Biden received the most votes out of all candidates on the Democratic ballot with 824,378 or 84.59%.

For U.S. Senator, Ted Cruz received the most votes statewide with 1,973,253 or 88.31% on the Republican ballot.

On the Democratic ballot, for U.S. Senator, Collin Allred won with 565,767 votes or 58.84%.

All of the propositions listed on the Republican ballot were approved statewide.

In Erath County voting for the March 5 joint primary, 6611 voters cast their vote, or 26.41% of registered voters. 

Statewide, about 1.8 million Texans voted during early voting, down from 2 million during the 2020 presidential primary.
