With the Nov. 9 event fast approaching, dancers for this year’s Dancing for the Stars event are working hard on getting their moves down for the fundraiser gala.

The event gathers local celebrity couples to show off months of practice and footwork while gathering funds to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erath County in its cause of building oneto- one mentoring relationships that promote mental health and well-being in children Dublin’s resident couple that aren’t really a couple, Darrell Curry and Kayla Conner, have been meeting at Studio 6:14 in Stephenville for their weekly practice session under instructor Jay Hunter. The team is putting the finesse on a routine that highlights their friendship and having fun.

“They’ve been doing really well, and it will be very entertaining,” said Hunter.

Curry and Conner say they have been blown away by the support they have already received from the community, including the September barbecue lunch which quickly sold out.

Studio 6:14 Dance & Performing Arts has been working with all the teams to ensure a fun evening for all who attend and reported they’re all coming along.

Curry and Conner will be sharing the spotlight with four other teams: Lucky Vines owners Jeff and Kimberly Hutchins, Scott and Sherrie Evans, Brayden and Brittany Lack and Cody and Hannah Allen.

Locals will have another chance to show support as Curry and Conner (Team C2) as well as Team Lack will host a costume contest at Red Barrell Bar & Grill Thursday, Oct. 26. The entry fee is $10 cash with youth judging from 4 p.m. to around 6 p.m. and adults from 7:30 p.m. to around 11 p.m. Winners will receive a cash prize with the rest going to BBBS.

Anyone wanting to show support for the cause can also go to Big Brothers Big Sisters Erath County on Facebook and buy tickets for the big show on Nov. 9. Dancing starts at 7 p.m. at the Tarleton Rodeo Arena.

General admission tickets with bleacher seating are $25 each.
