A crowd of community volunteers flocked to a home project at 432 N. Park on Saturday, Nov. 4 to help in preparing the home for the winter for the family in residence by insulating the home and installing new siding and underpinning.
Project coordinator Tori Estrada (who led the project alongside Billy Chapas) reported the day “went amazingly” but they need volunteers again on Saturday, Nov. 11 as they hope to complete the project.
They are especially in need of people with construction experience and for volunteers to bring tools like saws, hammers, ladders, box cutters, pry bars, gloves, tin snips, screw guns and impacts.
Volunteers were able to help with leveling the home as they worked but found many of the windows are broken. Anyone with extra windows or is able to donate a window or two will help as the community works to set the family up for the coming months. “They don’t have anything to block the wind from coming in this winter,” Estrada said in a previous interview on the need for this renovation. Estrada thanked the many volunteers and donors, Higginbotham’s for donating the house wrap, McCoy’s for offering discounts, Golden Chick and the women’s group at Cottonwood for donating food and Revitalize Dublin and Cottonwood for their support in the project.
