The Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District are now accepting applications for a scholarship opportunity to all senior students residing in one of the four counties, Bosque, Comanche, Coryell, and Erath, that overlap the District boundary.
The Groundwater Stewardship Scholarship Essay Contest will reward students for high quality research and writing. Applicants are asked to write a 800-1,000 word essay about issues facing groundwater today.
Topics should address local and/or state groundwater issues which may include, but are not limited to: Non-Point Source Pollution, Population Growth Impacts, Pollution Prevention, Land Management for Recharge and Groundwater Conservation and New Technology for Groundwater Management.
Essays will be reviewed and scored based on content, accuracy of information, originality, grammar, quality of research, and style.
First place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship and second place winners will receive a $875 scholarship to the community college, university, or training institution of their choice. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the school upon confirmation of enrollment.
Scholarships will be awarded contingent upon receipt of qualified submissions based on the criteria outlined below as determined by the District.
