Thanks to generous donations from the local community, The Christian Women’s Job Corps Transformation Pathway was able to deliver gifts to 51 Dublin children and 12 senior citizens Thursday as part of the annual Angel Tree program.
“It was humbling to see the response from the community, businesses and individuals alike” said site coordinator Pam McLerran, who reported that one local business elected to pick up gifts for 12 themselves. “We even had people asking after all the names were taken.”
“We had almost doubled our kids from last year and we were able to get all the names out and receive all the gifts back in time for us to organize and wrap and deliver on time,” she added.
McLerran said there were five volunteers wrapping gifts on Dec. 15 and 16 so that treat bags and gifts could be delivered to Dublin schools and Three Oaks Assisted Living the following day.
CWJC even received some extra help from Dublin’s Dollar General, who approached them about supplying some of the gifts through its toy drive.
“Thank you to all who responded to the call to bless someone this Christmas,” said McLerran. “ You are spreading joy and love to these children and senior citizens and also serving as a great role model for our young generation in that you would give to a stranger and know that you will not be known for your good deed. This reminds me of Matthew 6 in the Bible.”
CWJC/Transformation Pathway is a ministry that provides classes, teaching life and job skills to give their students the tools needed to succeed. The next semester of classes starts in February of 2021.
