Bibliophiles will have a chance to meet some scribes this weekend as the Dublin Public Library is presenting a local Author Showcase.
The event is slated to run in conjunction with the monthly Dublin Market Days from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Wright Park in downtown Dublin.
Authors that are confirmed for the event as of press time include: Laura Conner Kestner, Sheryl Reed Rascher, James Plyant, Cliff Sims, Elaine Fields Smith, Suzanne Thompson and Mac McKinnon.
The event gives the public a chance to visit with the authors, purchase books and get them signed. Library Director Adina Dunn said there will even be some free books available.
The library will be keeping busy over the next few weeks continuing programs for its annual Summer Reading Program.
On Thursday, June 15 Dublin Police Officers will be reading aloud to kids with “Read with DPD” at 2 p.m. at the library.
Also on Saturday, Barks & Books will be held at 11 a.m. at the library allowing children of all ages to read aloud in a non-judgmental fashion to either Hank or Annie from Annie’s Therapeutic Companions.
Heading into the next week, STAR Council will be hosting Sprinkle Kindness/Bosque Safari Camp on Wednesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library.
Camps are free and open to kids Kindergarten through second grade. Camps include various crafts and activities focused on kindness.
