Ready to hunt some eggs? This Saturday thousands of brightly colored and filled eggs will be scattered throughout the City Park in Dublin’s third annual EGGStravaganza.

The event is set for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Dublin’s City Park with hunts to start at 9:30 a.m.

This year’s lead sponsors are Dublin Dairy Queen, the Dublin Citizen and the Stephenville Area Elks Lodge No. 2834.

“We couldn’t do this without support from the community and we are so excited that the Elk’s Lodge is the lead sponsor this year,” organizer and DQ manager Shanna Phelps said.

EGGStravaganza is the idea of Phelps who wanted to bring an Easter themed event to the Dublin community so families did not have to travel outside of town to enjoy an egg hunt.

“For me, it’s about the smile on the kids faces. To know that you can impact a child’s life in the career I chose is a big deal. I have so many kids come into my store and their little hugs at the end of a rough day makes the stress melt away. I have always had a soft spot for kids and this is just one way I can show my love and support for this community,” Phelps said.

The hunt will be divided by age but begin all at 9:30 a.m. Age groups are birth to three, ages 4-6, ages 7-9 and ages 10-12.

Each group will have prize eggs for Easter baskets and one lucky group will have a small Blizzard for a year as one of the prizes!

The event will include a chance to have photos taken with the Easter Bunny, bounce houses, hot dogs provided by Calvary Fellowship, popcorn and rice crispy treats. Every portion of the event is free, organizers said.

Other sponsors for the event include Stephenville Evening Lions Club, Legacy Estates, Stone’s Auto, Bar Diamond LLC, Art-Z Face Painting, First National Bank, Stephenville Nursing, Granny Clarks, Calvary Fellowship, Dublin Insurance, Harrell Funeral Home, Valley Grove Baptist Church, Terry Cline, Dublin Vet Clinic, Dublin VFD, Dublin Police Department, Dublin Lions Club, Higginbothams, Brookshire Brothers, Lilly G Productions, Veterinarian’s Outlet, Sonic and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

An appreciation goes out to volunteer egg stuffers including Mary Wood, Girl Scout Troop 4168 and Makayla and Rebecca Anglin.

Students can also compete in a coloring contest with several prizes available. Coloring contest sheets have gone home through Dublin ISD and should be returned at the egg hunt. Participants will receive a small prize at the hunt and grand prizes will be awarded later in each age group.
