Tuesday was the second annual Shop with a Cop for Erath County. Using generous donations from the community, local officers paired with children in need, taking them to a special breakfast at The Purple Goat before taking them in a parade to Wal-Mart where every child got $150 to spend on gifts to ensure a Merry Christmas. Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray had the following to say about the event: “It was a great day for the kids and an even better day for the officers. 40 children from across Erath County were able to get a special something from this event that would not have been possible without our generous donors and dedicated officers. Agencies participating were Dublin PD, Stephenville PD, Erath County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, Texas Rangers, Erath County Pct 1 Constable, Erath County Pct 2 Constable, Texas Game Wardens and Tarleton State University Police Department. Events like today make us proud of our community and even prouder of our officers that serve. I’m fortunate that we were able to participate and we are already looking forward to next year.” Paul Gaudette | Citizen staff photo
