Jean Pinner

Jean Whitfield Pinner, age 94 of Waco, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at her daughter’s home.

Jean was born January 25, 1930, in Dublin, Texas, to Walker Whitfield and Erin Cook Whitfield.

Jean invested her life in loving people. For almost 40 years, she taught elementary school, mostly in Odessa and Blanket, and gave private piano and organ lessons before and after school.

She played piano and organ for various churches for 80 years. In 2010 Jean began sharing her music in nursing homes and retirement centers around Waco.

These opportunities blessed her with many dear friends, valued relationships she honored and nurtured throughout her life. She corresponded with her Dublin classmates for decades. She stayed in touch with many of her students, even after they had families of their own. She made many treasured friendships during her last years in Waco.

Jean loved God and shared the gifts He gave her with others. She loved family and blessed them with her generosity, encouragement and positive outlook. Jean has two daughters, Donna Saylor and Joey Barlow, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew, and many cousins.

A family graveside service was held at Live Oak Cemetery in Dublin, Texas.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 701 Avenue C, Waco, Texas.
