October 11 is the deadline to register to vote in the November 8 General Elections.

To vote in an election you must be registered to vote at least 30 days before the election date. To change your name or address, a completed and signed application is also required at least 30 days before the election date.

To be eligible to vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen, be a resident of the county where you submit the application, be 18 on election day, not have been determined by a final judgment of a court to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote and not have been convicted of a felony, or if convicted, must have fully completed the sentence including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision or complete a period of probation ordered by any court, or been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote.

Those who are unsure of their voting status can check their voter registration status by searching the Texas Secretary of State’s website. If you are currently living in Erath County but are registered to vote in another county, you must be registered to vote in Erath County at least 30 day prior to Election Day in order to vote in Erath County. To register to vote, you can complete a voters registration application and mail the signed application (at least 30 days before the election date) to Erath County Tax Assessor-Collector, Voter Registration Department, 320 West College Street, Stephenville, TX 76401. You can also visit the Voter Registration Department located in the Erath County Tax Office in Stephenville and submit your completed and signed form from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Request, via e-mail at ecvote@co.erath.tx.us, and our office will mail a paper application to you. Please provide a mailing address and phone number in your email.

Early voting will be starting on Oct. 24. Dates, times and voting locations will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Dublin Citizen.

The following races and candidates will be on the Erath County ballot. For each race, voters will cast one vote.

U.S. Representative, District 25 – Roger Williams (unopposed – Republican) Governor – Greg Abbott (incumbent – Rep), Beto O’Rourke (Dem), Mark Tippetts (Lib) and Delilah Barrios (Grn).

Lt. Governor – Dan Patrick (incumbent – Rep), Mike Collier (Dem) and Shanna Steele (Lib).

Attorney General – Ken Paxton (incumbent – Rep), Rochelle Mercedes Garza (Dem) and Mark Ash (Lib).

Comptroller of Public Accounts – Glenn Hagar (incumbent – Rep), Janet T. Dudding (Dem) and V. Alonzo Echevarria-Garza ( Lib).

Commissioner of the General Land Office – Dawn Buckingham (Rep), Jay Kleberg (Dem) and Alfred Molison, Jr. (Grn).

Commissioner of Agriculture – Sid Miller (incumbent – Rep) and Susan Hays (Dem).

Railroad Commissioner – Wayne Christian (incumbent – Rep), Luke Warford (Dem), Jaime Andres Diez (Lib) and Hunter Wayne Crow ( Grn).

Justice Supreme Court, Place 3 – Debra Lehrmann (incumbent – Rep), Erin A. Nowell (Dem) and Thomas Edward Oxford ( Lib).

Justice Supreme Court, Place 5 – Rebeca Huddle (incumbent – Rep) and Amanda Reichek (Dem).
